ALL ABOUT ME
I am a formerly a Sergeant of the British Armed Forces with 24 years service with one of the finest regiments in the British Army, 1st Battalion The Royal Highland Fusiliers, who are now 2 Scots.
I took to poetry at a dark time in my life, it helped me to express what I and others in the same position have experienced. In 2011 I finally admitted that all was not well in my head, I sought help and was diagnosed with a complex form of PTSD through a combination of factors. However instead of just letting others take over I thought now i know i wasnt going mad I could get by, proof that men really are stubborn buggers. My thoughts are that the support networks are for those worse off than me. Not one for doing things by halves I also found that I have been dyslexic all these years, thank god for computers!!
I had never attempted poetry until around 2011/12 so I might be a bit rough around the edges.
My poems also let me express the feelings that members of the armed forces and their families experience, the living legacy of our time in the forces that will be with us forever.
The poems are about life, a life in the Armed Forces, some funny some sad, some may appear quite mad, pull up a chair and have a read and if you want leave a comment on the feedback page. Of course if you are a publisher dont hesitate to get in touch PLEASSSSSE (too desperate ? lol)
